My Approach to "Sharing My Faith"

This Sunday Darryl interviewed several wonderful people about their approaches to sharing their faith. The goal was NOT to put those individuals on a pedestal but to find stories that resonate in our own life. Today, I’d like to do the same:

I’ve always been a relational person. God has gifted me with the ability to get along with a wide variety of people. If you knew me in high school, I was a bit of a nerd (not much has changed) but generally floated from friend group to friend group. This ability opened some doors for me to have some frank conversation with people about God. I was never really the type to start abruptly with a line like, “If you died today where would you go?” or be ‘in someone’s face’ but when they would ask about God, I would ask some tough questions back.

So, God is still working in my life. I want to be ready in season and out of season to explain the hope I possess. For now, my most general style is relational with a dash of direct. My encouragement would be this … just start. You maybe an intellectual or invitational; you maybe a creative or a service minded approach. Bottom line - MOVE. GO. I pray that the Word of God would burn in your bones like it did for Jeremiah … “his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. - Jeremiah 20:9b
