What can I do for my God?

In Spring the snow is finally beginning to melt away, plants are beginning to grow back, and trees are starting to blossom. We see the stores fill up with pictures of babies, puppies, bunnies, and all manners of cute things. It is as if our entire way of life knows that it is time to take a deep breath and wake up from winter. It is spring time in our church as well. We all have opportunities to help our church to grow.

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field’” (Matthew 9:36-38). What Jesus said then is still true here today. This community needs a Savior. We could help bring this Savior, Jesus, to them if only we would heed the call.

Who is called? Every Christian. We are called to serve right where we are. We are called to reach out to our community for Jesus however we can. How do we follow that call? Get involved.

There are many was to plug in here at our church. Sunday School Teachers, Small Group Leaders, you could join a Worship Team, or even the Audio/Visual Technology Staff. There are Outreach Opportunities with Small Groups. All of these are just a few examples.

Take a look at the Signup Center or online for more ways to get involved. We have events, retreats, men's and women's ministry, camps and even VBS! To succeed as a church, we need to step up to the plate together. Loosely quoting JFK: it is time to stop asking, “What can my church do for me?” and start asking, “What can I do for my God?”

Blessings,

Ethan & Micah
