I want to say thank you.  Thank you for being a church that realizes the importance of sabbath.  I was able to get away last week with my family to Tennessee.  Yes, it was homecoming for Johnson; yes, our yearly shopping trip for clothes, and yes, there was a trip to the Nascar Speed Park for go-carts.  But through all the fun, the get-away had a bigger importance.

REST—Hebrews 4.  Darryl just spoke about this and it was a nice send off to my trip.  The importance here is to know t...

As we begin a new year, so many people are setting goals.  Mental, physical, occupational, and everything between, we often see this time as a new start.  And yet, I’ve often heard quoted in study

  • reading your favorite scriptures together

  • talking about what you are thankful for and intentionally going to God in prayer and thanksgiving for it

  • making beautiful pieces of homemade/handmade art expressing your thankfulness to God

  • serving at a soup kitchen

  • find...

A few weeks ago I was given the privilege of preaching on promotion Sunday.  I am thrilled to report that after a few bumps in the road, which happens every year, we are building momentum in all ages.  Relationally, spiritually, and physically our kids are growing up right before out eyes.

God laid it on my heart to begin to shift focus this year.   And the focus is YOU - the parents.  We know that you have more influence over a lifetime than any other person on the planet.  For better or wo...
