I mentioned during worship last week, we are at times marked by the sins of our loved ones. Not counted as sin against us but as sin that effects our lives.  This was apparent in the early life of David.  He wrote “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Psalms 51:5 (ESV).

According to an ancient Talmudic tradition, there were lots of questions surrounding David’s birth. This is the history taught in that Jewish tradition, and while you...

Next Tuesday is Halloween.  In many of our towns, streets fill with costumed kids looking for delicious treats.  If you happen to live in one of these areas, you have a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors.

What if this year we, as a church, could help you make a bigger impact?  What if you were equipped to make an eternal impact?  What if the good news of Jesus could be shared?  Bottom line: IT CAN!

This Sunday there will be Halloween Equip Packages for pick up at...

Several amazing things happened Sunday night at our “Missions Evening” with Missionary, CY Kim.  First of all, it is always so exciting to hear all that God is doing through the ministry of CRAM Worldwide, Inc.  If you are not familiar with this mission work in several countries in Asia, please check out their website at cramwinc.org and pray for the Gospel of Christ to go out to the lost and hurting in these countries.

        I love lis...

In 1997, the Lord placed a burning desire within the hearts of C. Y. and Patricia Kim to evangelize and meet the physical needs of people living in the communist countries of Asia. Through God’s amazing grace and guidance, He has expanded those opportunities and Christ Reaching Asia Mission (CRAM) Worldwide now shares through benevolent works in China, North Korea, Cambodia, and the Philippines.

CY Kim will be speaking at Center on Sunday, O...

Over the past few weeks, we have been contacting those who receive the newsletter by mail to make sure our records are up to date.  In one of these contacts, we got a note back from a lovey couple who used to attend.  They moved away yet still read our bi-weekly newsletter.  In the note it read:

"Getting your newsletter is like getting a letter from home."

I was touched by the fact that this faithful reader found community, hope, and connection here.  And cares enough to continue to read...

This past Sunday, Darryl talked about David’s great moral failing in 2 Samuel 11 with Uriah and Bathsheba.  Though David did a pitiful job of correcting and dealing with the sin within his household, as we will see over the next weeks, we do see him earnestly seeking reconciliation with God.  In a deep sorrow over his sin and the rebuke by the prophet Nathaniel, David pens Psalm 51.

I’ve written, and many others much smarter than me have said, that worship has two major aspects: the vertical...

On 10-8-17, we started a new sermon series entitled “The Elephant In The Family Room”.   Every family has these “Elephants” (issues or sin) that we don’t want to address.

Now please understand, people are not the “Elephants” but our sin and the effects of those sins are.  Because people invite the sin into our families, it feels personal to expose that sin because it is attached to that person, but it is not personal.  We love ou...

Upcoming Sermon Series:  October 8 - November 26, 2017

It doesn’t matter if you have a house full of people or it’s just you, we all have family (including extended families) by which we love and need on multiple levels.  So within that family room (internal or extended), there are topics and issues that we too often ignore or learn to live with.  These are “The Elephants In The Family Room.”  We will learn through God’s Word that these elephants are not our pets.  These elephants need to be iden...

We often don't spend much time teaching and preaching out of the Old Testament prophets.  Nor do we think of family ministry much in the Old Testament.  I'd like to direct our attention to Malachi, chapter 4.

Malachi spoke to the nation of Israel when everything should have been restored, city rebuilt, walls rebuilt, temple rebuilt.  Yet only a half century later their worship became corrupt and full of injustices.  It is from this context (one that looks similar to ours in terms of being fu...

We recently finished our Messy Grace series and Darryl ended by talking about knowing our identity, that is our identity in Christ.  Losing site of that is one of the quickest ways for your worship life to dry up.

There are so many things battling for our attention all the time that this can happen easily.  We get caught up in what we do, the hobby we have, that political positions we’re passionate about and suddenly the core of our identity is wrapped up in these things. While having passion for...
