Have you ever extended grace to someone living in sexual sin and you felt like you gave approval of the sin but didn’t mean to?  Or, have you ever been determined to speak the truth in love to someone living in sexual sin and felt like you ripped apart your relationship but didn’t mean to?  Is it possible to be a Christian in our culture today and accept people but not approve of the choices they make?

If you look at the Gospels and the people Jesus interacted with, He was always showing lov...

It seems like a really simple and obvious question, but lets think about it for a moment.  Some of us look for hope in our country and its leaders; a few of us find hope and security in our work; some of us look for hope in family.  The problem is that many of these things can fail us.  Our country and leaders can be led astray; jobs can vanish quickly; families are a part of who we are, but they are made up of flawed people that can disappoint.  So why do we look to these for hope?...

Hello, Church!  Summer break is drawing to a close in just a few weeks.  I have already seen the ads and store displays for "Back to School".  I don't know about you but I LOVE this time of year.  Much like spring, this time is filled with possibilities, excitement, and a little nervousness (especially for kids and students making BIG transitions).

So, I have one favor to ask - “pray continually,” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 NIV

  • Pray for VBS - That the Gospel will be presented th...

Finding songs that adequately capture gentleness in their text is hard. This week, as we come so close to the end of this Believe series that has guided us these last 28 weeks we want to cling to the spirit of gentleness. We have a Father in Heaven that catches us up in his arms and loves us with a perfect gentleness. While there may not be lots of songs that call us specifically to gentleness, there are plenty that help us see the gentle care that our God has for us and we must be sharing that...

Author and naturalist Craig Childs was on foot in Arizona’s Blue Range Wilderness doing research on the number one human predator, the mountain lion.  Childs was walking to a water hole to identify tracks in the mud and record notes.  Just before he bends down to look closer, he scans the perimeter, and there among the shadows of the junipers, about 30 feet away, he sees a pair of eyes.  It was a mountain lion.

He expects the lion to run away,...

We are really excited to have our choir joining us in both services to sing and worship our God. Make sure you take some time to prepare your hearts and minds as we come together to honor our God and talk about Faithfulness. There are only a few weeks left in the Believe series. If you need to catch up on any of those sermons you can find those here.

Darryl spoke in our last newsletter about his fond memories of VBS.  Well, all except one (you will have to check out his article for what he didn't like.)  I've once heard it said that if you focus on WHAT, it can divide, but if you focus on WHY, it unites.

VBS — Vacation Bible School — So why do we do this long standing, child focused event here at Center?  At this moment I must acknowledge that, in the grand scheme of the history of this church, I am but a blip on the radar.  Speaking abo...

In November of last year, we spent the month looking at 2 Chronicles 7:14 to find four turns a nation can take to receive healing and forgiveness from God.  “…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

As we celebrate our Nation’s birth on the 4th, I hope we turn towards prayer.  When the chur...
